The cold of the night numbed Elodie's fingers as she wandered the streets of London. She was alone, as she had been for many years. It was in these moments that she wished she had a home, and a fire place to warm her body. She looked at all the closed shutters longingly, but continued on walking. It had been her choice, after all.
She entered a bar, and looked around. A crowd of mostly men filled the large room. The stench of alcohol was unmistakable. She sighed and made her way to an empty table. At least it was warm and she could get some food.
It was then she heard a woman's scream. A man with a scar across his eye had pinned her to the wall and began assaulting her. Elodie watched, until she saw the man put a knife to her throat. She stood up and made her way toward the crowd. She took out a large dagger and nailed it into a table. The crowd went quiet, and the scared man walked up to her knife in hand. Once he was two inches from his face, he put his knife to her throat and said "well, lil lady, who do you think you are?" Elodie's bright red lips did not move. His breath smelled of alcohol and his clothes were worn. Elodie felt her anger build up, until she could not contain any longer. She grabbed his hand that held the knife, and without much trouble stabbed him in the throat. In the matter of seconds, he was dead and the crowd of people rushed toward her, weapons in hand.
She swiftly jumped over the table, grabbing her dagger and taking another from her coat. She began to fight. She stabbed two in the stomach, and two in the heart. She knocked a few men out. This continued until some began to flee. She was hit a few times but stood back up immediately. She pinned a man to the wall. Without showing any fear, he asked "who are you?" Elodie slit his throat in one quick slash without any answer.
