Artemis laughed as she the frivolty of her descriptions got more and more fluff added to them.
"And then Dave was like... 'Yes and your dress is erm... dashing...' and blushed! It was quite amusing. He called my dress dashing! That's a word for masculine attire and bodies!" She passed through the final border of people with Vitani and sighed with relief as the clatter and chaos of the port left room for the steadily rising din of birds and sunshine.
With a low voice she began to intrude upon the true words that had to pass. "Will we be able to take the ship, just the two of us? Or shall we need more able minds and bodies... in which case we must both frequent a few unhappy maidens."

Vitani was relieved when they found a private place to talk--all that giggly-girly talk had been starting to get to her...
She replied quietly, "We will definitely need a crew. I came to report that I heard news of a large shipment of goods coming in from America. It will be arriving in London within the next week. We may be the best in the business, but, even for the two of us, attacking that shipment could be difficult. Captain, do you know of anyone who would be willing to join us?" Her voice had become urgent. They needed a crew--and soon.

"No, I don't... I'll have to look into it over the night and get back to you. Perhaps you can check with a few of the girls in town." She gazed past a few trees towards the lane leading to her home.
Distracted and upset, she gave a half-hearted smile. "I'm sure we'd still get away with a good amount if it comes down to simply you and I."

Vitani returned the smile, but there was obvious concern in her eyes. However, she decided to leave it alone for the time being...if Artemis wished to talk with her, then she would.
She nodded and said, "I've seen a few girls around town who look like they'd join...Do not worry, Captain, I shall be the essence of subtlety until I know for sure if they desire to join us. Is there any other assistance I can provide?"

"Not at this moment. I need time to formulate a plan for action. If you need me or find anyone, I'll be at home." She nodded and then turned on her heel, swiftly crossing the grounds between herself and the path to her father's abode.

Vitani nodded and watched Artemis leave. Then she, too, left the alley and lost herself amidst the throng of people. She remembered seeing a girl who looked jumpy, suspicious, overly cautious walking through the port. Most likely a runaway slave. Well, the Harlot's Tear could provide sanctuary...if only Vitani could find this girl...
She decided to abandon this particular costume. The dress was itchy and hot, and the bonnet was bothering her; Vitani liked to let her hair down, to show off the clean, smooth, deep black hair that she so luckily possessed. She turned down another alleyway and slipped through a dark doorway and into an abandoned warehouse. There, in the private cover of darkness, she changed out of her peasant's clothes and donned a dress made of a lovely pale blue silk--acquired on one of her more recent pillages in the Indian Ocean. It showed off her slim figure, but had a modest neckline.
Vitani emerged from the warehouse in her new dress. She removed the bonnet and let her sleek black hair tumble downward to her waist. Then, after depositing the bonnet in a heap of horse manure, Vitani rejoined the crowds to continue her search--now, however, she resembled a wealthy merchant's daughter.

The girl she was loking for was huddled up in a corner near the marketplace waiting for someone to find her.

Vitani scoured the marketplace, then, she spotted her--the girl she had seen before. Vitani approached the girl with feigned carelessness. Then, pretending to just have noticed her, crouched down and spoke to the girl in a low voice: "I know who you are--rather, I know that you are a runaway slave. If you want sanctuary, follow me."
She rose and began walking with a bounce in her step towards the nearest alleyway; a small, dank gap of empty space in a corner of the marketplace where prying eyes would have to come to the entrance in order to see the two of them clearly. She made sure no one was paying attention and slipped into it, then waited.

Tellie followed Vitani to that specific corner, and very carefully slipped in also unnoticed.

Vitani's smile was full of innocence, but her eyes glinted with mischief. She said to the girl, "So, you are a runaway slave. Don't worry, I won't reveal that to anyone--I know I would have run away if I was a slave. Now, to business. Tell me, how far are you willing to go for freedom?"

"I'll do anything.....to be free is the only thing that I care about...I'd rather die and then become free, then live and be a slave"

Vitani's lips curled into a mishievious smirk. "Well, I have a proposal for you. How would you like to become a pirate?" Hopefully, this girl would take her up on her offer quickly. If not, well, Vitani would just have to persuade her.

"hmmmmmm, well it's much better than being a slave, if I say no you're gonna kill me aren't you (LOL) well okay!"

Vitani laughed. "Well, I probably wouldn't kill you if you said no, but it's quite nice that you'd like to join. A life of piracy really does give many more freedoms than something like...the life of a merchant. Or even a member of the royal navy. So, to business. I am the first mate on the Harlot's Tear. How would you like to become a member?"

"Definitely....."

Vitani smiled. "Well then," she said, "First, we must find you some suitable clothing to disguise you until we get to the ship." She looked around thoughtfully. Then, peering just outside the alley, she discovered a shop that sold dresses like the one she was wearing. There was a sign on the door that said the staff were out for lunch. Perfect...
Vitani made sure no one was looking, then slipped through the door. She searched around for a few moments, then found a red dress with a square neckline embroidered with silver lace. She checked, again, to make sure that no one was watching the shop--the nearest people were a fish monger and a peasant bartering, and they weren't paying attention. Before anyone could catch her or stop her, Vitani snatched the dress and sneaked back to the alley.
"Here, put this on." She gave the dress to the girl and added, "What is your name, by the way?"
